Liberty Property Trust Sadly Announces the Passing of Larry Gildea
MALVERN, Pa., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Liberty Property Trust (NYSE: LRY) regretfully announced today that Lawrence D. Gildea, Senior Vice President and Regional Director, has passed away. Mr. Gildea had been receiving treatment for lung cancer for the past year.
"Larry was an extraordinary developer, an extraordinary manager of people, and an extraordinary human being," said Liberty's chief executive officer, Bill Hankowsky. "His integrity, his creativity, and his passion for the art of real estate development shone in everything he did."
A native of Scranton, PA, Mr. Gildea joined Liberty's predecessor company, Rouse & Associates, in 1984, and served in the company's Maryland operation before launching Rouse's North Carolina office in High Point in 1988. He quickly put his stamp on the Piedmont Triad's commercial real estate market, developing office and industrial properties of superior quality, culminating in the flagship Mendenhall at Piedmont Centre.
"Perhaps more than anyone I have ever known, Larry believed that buildings are all about the people who interact with them," said Rob Fenza, Liberty's chief operating officer. "He was incredibly passionate about creating environments that could lift people's spirits. We are committed to carrying on his legacy as we mourn the loss of his friendship."
