The event, moderated by Boston Globe Olympic reporter John Powers and also featuring representatives from the U.S. Olympic Committee and U.S. Paralympics, will include a discussion about athletes' experiences on their Olympic journeys, issues facing today's U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and an outlook on how Team USA might fare in Sochi.
44 Days of Free Public Skating
Friday also will kick-off 44 days of free public skating on the Boston Common Frog Pond, sponsored by Liberty Mutual. Each day through the close of the Olympic Winter Games on February 23, Liberty Mutual is offering 100 adult skating and rental passes and 100 children's skate rental passes (no skating charge for kids under the age of 13). "We are delighted to join the Skating Club of Boston and City of Boston to offer free public skating on the Frog Pond," said Paul G. Alexander, Liberty Mutual Insurance chief communications officer. "We think there is no better way to get into the U.S. Olympic spirit as we approach the Sochi Games than to make Frog Pond accessible so that our entire community may partake in this timeless New England tradition."
