DALLAS, Feb. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Liberty Institute issued this statement following the Boy Scouts of America's decision to delay voting until May on its policy regarding homosexual leaders and members. "We are encouraged by the Boy Scouts' decision to delay any decision on this matter until its May national meeting," said Kelly Shackelford, Liberty Institute President and CEO. "The legal and religious liberty implications of making a bad decision in haste would have been huge. Seventy percent of the sponsoring organizations of the local troops are faith-based and any change in policy would have had major implications."
"We are hopeful the Boy Scouts will make the right decision that protects this great organization and its membership while respecting religious liberty rights. We stand ready to assist the Scouts in any way we can," added Shackelford.
