LGS Innovations' Rapidly Deployable Network Solution a Proven Success at U.S. Army Network Integration Exercise
Solution Provides Robust 4G Communications Capabilities with the Smallest Form Factor for the Warfighter
HERNDON, Va., Jan. 31, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- LGS Innovations, The Network Experts™, today announced it has successfully deployed the lowest SWAP (Size, Weight and Power) complete portable 4G network in the recent Army Network Integration Exercise (NIE) at White Sands Missile Range, NM. The LGS Rapidly Deployable Network (RDN) is a total ruggedized and portable 4G network in a box that can be deployed in tactical environments, either vehicle-mounted or in a fixed tactical operations center.
The LGS Rapidly Deployable Network proved to autonomously provide 4G capabilities when deployed in remote areas, and can also operate seamlessly as a part of a larger network. RDN's backhaul interface enabled connectivity to satellite networks, such as those found in the WIN-T Program. Additionally, the Mesh Network included in the RDN architecture enabled multiple RDN systems to scale to the operational area required by connecting multiple RDN coverage areas.
The RDN solution means that soldiers and tactical operators can have access to seamless voice, video and data communications, which improves command and control, situational awareness, and ultimately warfighter capability. Soldiers will be able to connect with smartphones, smartpads, and other edge devices that can help them send and receive critical information when they are outside traditional communications infrastructures, or when these infrastructures have been destroyed or compromised.
During interoperability testing at the Fort Gordon Battle Labs during the AWN-T exercises, the RDN was able to interface and operate successfully with both legacy tactical communications equipment as well as the latest in communication technologies. Testing occurred in the summer of 2011.
"I have witnessed the communications evolution for the tactical space, and can't envision a more powerful tool to provide situational awareness, biometrics, and broadband applications to the tactical edge," said LGS CEO, Lt. General Ron Iverson (Ret.) "Our troops deserve the proven capabilities of the RDN to insure the success of their mission and their safety."
