LG Thrill 4G, the powerful glasses-free 3D smartphone, to be the focus of world's first mobile 3D gaming competition
Witness 3D mapping projection 'come alive' in the heart of Hollywood
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Mobile today announced the continuation of its integrated 3D marketing campaign, "Bring Your World Alive," to promote the launch of LG Thrill™ 4G, an unparalleled superphone now available exclusively from AT&T for $99.99 with a two-year contract. In a partnership with Gameloft™, a leading global publisher of digital and social games, LG invites consumers to bring their gaming alive in a larger-than-life 3D gaming tournament and spectacle at Hollywood's illustrious Hollywood & Highland Center and Rolling Stone LA Lounge on September 20.
LG's "Your Gaming Comes Alive" leg of the campaign kicked off with a series of Facebook banners that invited gamers to compete in the 3D gaming tournament. Teams of professional gamers and consumers will use LG Thrill 4G - the only smartphone in the U.S. to feature a 1 GHz dual-core, dual-channel, dual-memory processor - as they battle it out in "Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance (N.O.V.A.) 3D," Gameloft's most popular property. After multiple preliminary rounds, top scorers will go head-to-head for the chance to be crowned champion and win more than $10,000 worth of LG products.
During the culmination of the 3D gaming competition, "N.O.V.A." will visually come alive with a spectacular 3D building mapping projection in the Hollywood & Highland Center's iconic central courtyard for all onlookers to enjoy the evening of September 20th.
"LG's partnership with Gameloft allows us to deliver the best in mobile gaming," said Tim O'Brien, vice president of marketing for LG mobile. "The fast-pace and detailed environment of modern gaming highlights the best aspects of glasses-free mobile 3D. For $99.99, LG Thrill 4G users will get one of the market's most advanced smartphones with unrivalled 3D and gaming capabilities."
"Through our work with LG we are able to continue to provide consumers with new ways to interact with our games by using some of the most advanced technology currently available on the smartphone market," said Baudouin Corman, vice president of publishing in the Americas at Gameloft. "As a prominent innovator in the market, LG continues to push the boundaries of mobile gaming with the new LG Thrill™ 4G by allowing players to experience action-packed adventure games such as N.O.V.A. with a rich glasses-free 3D experience."
LG's "Bring Your World Alive" campaign began in late-June during the 3D Entertainment Summit in New York City with a keynote speech delivered by O'Brien. During his speech, O'Brien discussed the ways in which LG Thrill 4G breaks the common barriers of 3D technology, including accessibility, unwanted glasses and lack of content. Following the 3D Summit, LG hosted the "World' First 3D User-Generated Concert" with Jane's Addiction where more than 100 ticket-holders captured 3D video of the event using LG Thrill 4G devices. The footage was transformed into a 60-minute documentary that is currently available on the LG Thrill YouTube 3D channel, youtube.com/comealive.
The ideal handset for on-the-move entertainment enthusiasts, LG Thrill 4G allows users to do it all in 3D – create, share and enjoy content in 3D. Gamers will love it for the real 3D games, amateur cameramen will love the ability to create and share in 720p HD 3D video and customers looking for one of the fastest, most powerful and capable superphones on the market will be delighted by the LG Thrill 4G, which is now available in AT&T company owned stores for $99.99 with a two-year contract.
