NEW YORK, Nov. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Consumer Technology Association (CTA™) is recognizing LG Electronics (LG) for groundbreaking innovations in technology and design with CES® 2018 Innovation Awards – led by multiple honors for LG OLED TVs and refrigerators to be unveiled in January.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that LG OLED TVs, home appliances and flagship smartphones all have received CES Innovation Awards, the official industry recognition for the most innovative products introduced at the annual consumer technology show known as CES®. LG also will receive its 12th CES Best of Innovations Award for a unique new product that will be introduced at the 2018 show.
LG earned CES 2018 Innovation Awards in eight highly competitive categories: Video Displays, Home Appliances, Wireless Handsets, Smart Home, Digital Imaging, Home Audio & Video Components, Computer Peripherals and Embedded Technologies, the company announced at CES Unveiled New York.
Leading the company's CES 2018 Innovation Award winners are multiple awards for both LG Door-in-Door® Refrigerators with SmartThinQ™ technology and for LG OLED TVs with perfect blacks, infinite contrast, expanded color gamut and the widest viewing angles. Other Innovation Award-winning LG products include a new washer and dryer, an advanced video projector, 4K UHD Smart TVs and more, all being introduced at CES 2018.
Ahead of CES, LG previewed some products earning CES 2018 Innovation Awards including the multimedia-pioneering LG V30™ smartphone and the connected LG Door-in-Door® refrigerator in the new LG MATTE Black Stainless Steel finish.
LG V30 Smartphone
The newest smartphone in LG's flagship V series, the LG V30, empowers users to easily create professional quality video from a smartphone. The LG V30 is the first smartphone to offer an F1.6 aperture camera lens, a glass Crystal Clear Lens (typically used in DSLR cameras) and features LG OLED FullVision display.
The LG V30 provides the technology for power users and mainstream users alike to create stand-out, jaw dropping photos and video. The Point Zoom feature allows anyone to easily slide their finger and pan into any section of the screen, providing a professional and smooth TV zoom effect not available on other smart-phones. Cine Effects provide professional, cinema color grading, allowing users to pre-select a color treatment before shooting video, preserving more detail and shooting with a vision rather than sifting through limited, detail-erasing filters after they've shot their video.
Aside from video capture, a Hi-Fi Quad DAC provides the best music playback quality on a smartphone, and the six-inch OLED FullVision display brings LG's industry leading TV technology to mobile phones, providing colors that pop and the deepest blacks possible. Clad in Corning Gorilla Glass 5, the LG V30 is IP68 dust and water resistant and meets U.S. military drop standards, having passed 14 categories of MIL-STD 810G tests – the U.S. Department of Defense testing standard.
LG Door-in-Door® Refrigerator
The Innovation Award-winning LG Door-in-Door® Refrigerator alerts consumers if the refrigerator door is left open, while enabling consumers to ask the refrigerator to make more ice, or adjust the temperature through the LG SmartThinQ™ smartphone app or voice commands via Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
Debuting in the new LG MATTE Black Stainless Steel finish, this 28-cubic-foot capacity 3-door French door model makes it easy to grab your go-to snacks and drinks with the LG Door-in-Door technology, which the company pioneered. With your favorite items at your fingertips, LG Door-in-Door technology also allows consumers to reduce cold air loss, keeping food fresher, longer.
The new LG MATTE Black Stainless series offers cutting-edge design that also delivers advanced functionality with features like LG ProofPoint™ – a fingerprint- and smudge-resistant finish that easily wipes clean with a soft, dry cloth without the need for special cleaners or constant attention.
2018 CES Innovation Awards

The awards are selected annually by a panel of esteemed industry designers, engineers and journalists who judge submissions on a variety of criteria, which span user value, aesthetics, innovative design, quality and contributions to quality of life.
The full list of LG's 2018 CES Innovation Awards, including yet another Best of Innovations Award, will be announced in conjunction with LG's CES press conference at 8 a.m. PST on Jan. 8, 2018 in Las Vegas.
