LG Expands Studio Series Refrigerators With Ultra-Large Capacity and 'Door-in-Door' Feature
LG Showcases Full Suite of Built-In Kitchen Products at CES 2012
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics (LG) expanded its Studio Series line of premium appliances for 2012 with unique new features to help consumers save time, energy and effort, at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (booth #8204).
LG's new ultra-large capacity 3-door refrigerator comes with a unique door-in-door feature, a magnetically sealed section of one of the two refrigerator doors that provides quick access to the contents stored in the door bins. With a shallower depth, this 25 cubic feet-capacity refrigerator stands flush with countertops for a sleek, seamless look while still offering a substantial amount of storage.
Also added to the Studio Series line is LG's built-in 42-inch side-by-side refrigerator, boasting an amazingly large capacity of 26.5 cubic feet and marking LG's foray into the built-in refrigeration category. This new refrigerator is the flagship model of the LG Studio Series suite of high-end appliances that brings together refrigerators, ranges, wall ovens, warming drawers, cooktops, hoods, microwave ovens and dishwashers in an impressive package designed to make a bold statement in any home.
"More and more consumers have been seeking sophisticated designs and high performance features for their home appliances," said Chris Jung, President of Home Appliances, LG Electronics USA, Inc. "Our new refrigerators meet these needs in terms of design and function as well as capacity."
Larger, More Customizable Space for Greater Convenience
Both new LG Studio Series refrigerators feature the large interior capacities and a host of smart organizational features that help consumers adapt the space to their own needs. Besides offering additional shelf space, LG's unique door-in-door feature allows quick, easy access to more sought-after items via the exterior door. The same items can also be accessed through a pressure-activated clear panel on the inside of the door-in-door shelves. LG's door-in-door refrigerator also makes freezer organization easier with a three-tier shelf system designed to have more commonly used items within close reach on the top two shelves and larger or longer-term storage items tucked away at the bottom.
Both new models also feature LG's innovative Slim Space Plus™ icemaker which frees up valuable top-shelf space by moving the ice maker into the refrigerator door, giving LG's door-in-door refrigerator an extensive amount of shelf space for a 3-door model. Additionally, LG's extra-tall ice and water dispenser can accommodate a wider variety of containers, thanks to its extra-tall height of 9.2 inches. LG's built-in refrigerator also comes with adjustable shelving and sliding door baskets, while multiple pull-out drawers allow for the utmost in customized organization, enabling consumers to quickly locate exactly what they need.
Energy Efficiency and High Technology in a Stylish Design
All Studio Series refrigerators are ENERGY STAR® qualified in recognition of their energy efficiency. The refrigerators are built around LG's Linear Compressor, one of LG's four Core Technologies. Typically, a refrigerator's compressor is either running at full capacity or turned off completely. LG's Linear Compressor, on the other hand, varies output according to need to help achieve fewer temperature swings, which can lower energy consumption. With fewer moving parts and greater efficiency, the motor is backed by a 10-year manufacturer's limited warranty.
The new Studio Series refrigerators also feature LG's proprietary Smart Diagnosis™.* This technology helps customer service representatives quickly and efficiently troubleshoot mechanical issues over the phone, limiting costly, inconvenient service calls and in-home visits. If an in-home visit is required, the field technician can remotely collect the necessary information and then arrive on site with the correct parts, reducing the need for multiple visits. For minor problems, such as when the refrigerator door is unintentionally left open, the refrigerator will alert the owner through its display panel.
Sleek contoured doors and hidden hinges complement the premium design of LG Studio Series refrigerators. Highlighted by bright LED lighting in the walls and a horizontally brushed stainless steel finish, these refrigerators are as sophisticated as they are functional.
Smart Cooling Plus™
Working in sync with the Linear Compressor is LG's Smart Cooling Plus™ technology with unique Dual Evaporators that react quickly to humidity and temperature changes to help keep food fresh. Digital sensors inside the fresh food section also closely monitor temperature and humidity levels to help maintain the perfect temperature for food storage. Meanwhile, the Fresh Air Filter and Multi-Air Flow's strategically located vents in every section of the refrigerator surround food items with cool air.
