NEW YORK, Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics kicks off its participation in the 2012 Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by FOOD & WINE with Emmy® award-winning Food Network celebrity, Sandra Lee during the highly anticipated "Fridge for You" event, sponsored by Official Electronics Festival Partner LG Electronics USA.

The competitive foodie blogger cook-off will be emceed by Sandra Lee, popular star of Food Network's "Restaurant Remakes" and Cooking Channel's "Taverns, Lounges & Clubs." Taking place in the Festival's Basketball City space on the Lower East Side, the cook-off will showcase Sandra's quick and easy recipes Size Up, Size Down Sliders, Easy Cheesy Chicken Parm and Quick Pasta Pleaser, give festival-goers a look at LG's newest refrigerators in an exciting and interactive challenge—and raise money to benefit the Festival's beneficiaries, Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign.
Three competing New York-based food bloggers, Anne Maxfield from The Accidental Locavore, Annie Dolce from The Daily Meal, and Sydney Kramer from Crepes of Wrath, will each be paired with one of three different LG refrigerators. The bloggers are tasked with cooking a recipe that will uniquely showcase that refrigerator's distinct innovation of size, ease or speed.
Three of Sandra Lee's favorite recipes, inspired by the over-extended homemakers who need quick meal solutions, and each specific to the innovative technologies of the three new LG refrigerators, will be used in the challenge. The bloggers will compete to create mouth-watering dishes that highlight the attributes of size, ease and speed. The three main LG refrigerator features facing off in the competition are:
- Size: The Mega-Capacity French-Door Refrigerator creates opportunities for increased storage and organization with 33 cubic feet of capacity, the largest capacity French door refrigerator available.* And it still fits into a standard 36 inch width kitchen opening.
- Ease: The Super-Capacity French-Door refrigerator offers a convenient solution for busy families: its "Door in Door" feature is a magnetically sealed section of the right refrigerator door that allows easy access to commonly reached-for items without opening the main refrigerator.
- Speed: The award-winning LG "Blast Chiller," available in the 3-Door Super Capacity French-Door refrigerator, can chill a room temperature, 12oz beverage in five minutes, or a bottle of wine in eight minutes.
LG'S ENERGY STAR® qualified refrigerators are also backed with a 10-year manufacturer's limited warranty on the company's patented Linear Compressor, which lies at the heart of its Smart Cooling Plus system, designed to help keep food fresh to minimize waste.
LG Electronics USA will make a $25,000 donation in the winner's name to the Festival, distributed to the hunger relief organizations Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign. The Festival has raised $5 million to date to help fight hunger, and it is a cause about which Chef Lee is passionate.
"It's great to be here today with LG, to both support an important cause and to see first hand the latest in culinary innovations," said Sandra Lee. "As an ambassador for Share Our Strength, I applaud LG for helping in the fight against child hunger. And as a busy woman, I can certainly appreciate any technology that makes feeding a hungry crowd faster and easier."
The event is part of LG Electronics' on-site presence at the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival, which shares LG's latest innovations and time-saving solutions in multiple Festival venues. LG is the Official Major Kitchen Appliance Partner for the celebrity-studded events taking place at the Festival's 82 Mercer St. SoHo location and at Fun and Fit in the City, presented by Target and hosted by Guy Fieri. In addition to its stylish kitchen appliances, LG will showcase a range of smart technologies, including HDTVs and mobile devices, giving attendees a close look at the latest products for the kitchen, living room and beyond.
"Working with Sandra Lee to benefit the Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign was an obvious choice for LG," said James Fishler, senior vice president, marketing and go-to-market operations, LG Electronics USA. "At LG, we're all about creating innovative 'Life's Good' solutions to improve families' lives. We create products that help you save time – and instead of spending time on chores, those precious minutes and hours can be used with family, friends or even to give back through outstanding community-based organizations that help fight hunger."
