WASHINGTON, Nov. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Further advancing its commitment to environmental sustainability and energy-efficient technologies, LG Electronics USA is playing a major role at the premier event for sustainable building, the 2015 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo, which opens today.
LG is the leading technology provider for the Growing Green Center exhibit. Commissioned by Baltimore nonprofit Parks & People Foundation and U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), in partnership with Building Design + Construction magazine, the exhibit is a sustainable modular training center featured at the two-day expo.
LG products designed with the environment in mind are integrated throughout the facility. In addition to ENERGY STAR certified electronics and appliances, the exhibit highlights LG's air conditioning systems that deliver powerful energy-efficient results for today's savvy architects, engineers and consumers.
Following the show, the structure will be permanently installed in Baltimore's Druid Hill Park, steps from the Parks & People Foundation's LEED Platinum-registered headquarters. The Growing Green Center will serve a major role in the organization's efforts to train local residents, students and community groups on how to revitalize their neighborhoods through landscaping, gardening and urban infrastructure projects.
"Creating sustainable technologies is central to LG's mission of Innovation for a Better Life. We understand and appreciate the value of manufacturing greener products that set new standards of industry efficiency," said Kevin McNamara, senior vice president and head of LG Electronics USA's air conditioning systems business. "Greenbuild is at the epicenter of the green building movement, and LG is proud of its role here, both as a Platinum Greenbuild sponsor and especially as the provider of innovative, energy-efficient solutions that help create more sustainable commercial and residential facilities."
The innovative, sustainably-constructed Growing Green Center exhibit features a number of energy efficient LG products, including air conditioning systems, consumer electronics and home appliances:
- Air Conditioning Systems – LG's highly efficient air conditioning technologies are key to the Growing Green Center's sustainable design. The LG "Multi V Mini" air conditioning system (model ARUN036GS2) offers the benefits of LG's flagship Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technology to cool or heat an entire building or just a single area or room. The system's indoor unit (model ARUN073BGA4) provides auto changeover, self-diagnostics and useful fan speed control and sleep mode. LG's industry-leading VRF technology and home comfort solutions are making major inroads in the United States where demand for high-performance, flexible HVAC technology continues to grow. LG air conditioning systems are designed to minimize efficiency losses found in conventional HVAC systems, provide sustainable energy savings and low lifecycle costs. LG VRF systems also contribute towards LEED-certified projects and offer superior zone by zone comfort.
- Consumer Electronics – Supporting the Growing Green Center's green education mission are LG personal computers and ENERGY STAR® certified TVs. The commercial model of LG's Chromebase (model 22CV241-B) is an all-in-one desktop computer that uses the speed, simplicity and security of the Google Chrome Operating System to power one device with an innovative space-saving design. A centerpiece of the Center is an ENERGY STAR certified LG 4K Ultra HD LED TV (model UF8500) with four times the resolution of Full HD for amazing clarity. The 65-inch class display features enhanced harman/kardon® audio and LG's intuitive webOS 2.0 Smart TV platform.
- Home Appliances – LG's ENERGY STAR® certified home appliances help make the Growing Green Center "green" while providing convenience for residents, students and community groups using the center. LG's bottom-freezer refrigerator (model LDC24370ST) offers the largest capacity in its class at 24 cubic feet. LG's integrated dishwasher (model LDF7774ST) incorporates the EasyRack™ Plus system for numerous adjustable rack configurations and LoDecibel™ technology for quiet operation. LG's countertop microwave oven (model LCRT2010ST) features LG's EasyClean® interior for simple cleaning without using chemicals.
LG Solar also is providing advanced photovoltaic panels to power "off the grid" exhibits in Greenbuild's NetZero Zone. In addition to its leading role in the Growing Green Center, LG Electronics was selected as the "Official ENERGY STAR TV Provider" for Greenbuild 2015.
