LG Developer Program Accelerates Mobile App Innovation For Consumer Benefits
New LG Software Developer Kit Enhances Multi-Tasking in Mobile Phones; LG Mobile to Showcase SDKs at Apps World 2014
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of an ongoing initiative by LG Electronics to further enhance consumers' user experience with LG mobile phones, the company is expanding its app developer program with the launch of a new software development kit (SDK) for LG's popular multi-tasking functionality called QSlide Function™.
The LG QSlide Function SDK will enable developers to elevate multi-tasking capabilities in their new and existing apps to a whole new level. QSlide Function is a unique feature on LG mobile devices from all major wireless carriers that allows end users to view multiple apps simultaneously in separate, resizable windows.
"Developers want to focus on creating the next great app and, in lockstep, LG is committed to supporting the rapid and smart innovation inherent to the Android developer community," said Georg Rasinski, director, mobile brand management, LG Electronics USA. "Fresh on the heels of launching our popular LG Device Loaner Program and introducing our QRemote SDK, we're expanding the LG Developer Program with the new LG QSlide Function SDK. And there's more to come."
The LG QSlide SDK Function will not only make it possible to design Android smartphone apps that can be opened in size-adjustable windows, but also will allow developers to customize their apps for other useful consumer benefits. For example, an "always display on top" option provides developers with the ability to decide how content is viewed on the screen. A collection of QSlide Function-compatible apps will soon be available from Google Play and the LG SmartWorld app store.
As part of its outreach to the developer community, LG will demonstrate the LG QSlide Function and LG QRemote SDKs at Apps World North America 2014, taking place February 5-6 at Moscone in San Francisco. For Apps World attendees, LG will be providing demos at booth #203.
LG QSlide Function Key Features Include:
- Switching the mode between floating and full screen window
- Adjusting transparency, size and position of the floating window
- Customizing styles of the floating window
- Adding the application's launch icon to the notification bar
LG Brings Unique Programming Features to Developers
The LG QRemote SDK lets developers take advantage of the IR (infrared) remote sensor in devices like LG G Flex and LG G2, to create their own QuickRemote apps which can control multiple, compatible electronic devices including TVs, cable set-top boxes, audio systems and even air conditioners.
The LG Loaner Device Program gives developers access to build and test their apps on the newest LG devices at no cost. By equipping developers with exciting and current software, hardware and app store channels, LG is enabling developers to focus on innovating and monetizing the next great app.
The LG QSlide Function and LG QRemote SDKs and documentation are now available for download at the LG Developer website: http://developer.lge.com.
