MENLO PARK, Calif., Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing the expansion of its successful Legal Analytics Apps™ offering, Lex Machina™, a LexisNexis company, today announced two powerful new applications—Damages Explorer and Parties Comparator—that instantly deliver critical litigation information to help attorneys win more cases and close more business. Leveraging Lex Machina's award-winning Legal Analytics® platform, these unique apps instantly provide customized, data-driven answers to critical legal questions at the click of a mouse.
"Today, attorneys need data-driven insights to make sound legal and business decisions. Damages Explorer and Parties Comparator deliver vital information with unprecedented speed—within seconds instead of days or weeks," said Josh Becker, Lex Machina's CEO. "With these new apps, attorneys can easily explore the damages awarded in similar cases and use that information to gauge whether to pursue or settle a case before setting foot in a courtroom. They can also analyze how opposing parties or similar companies have fared in court, gaining valuable strategic insights, instant decisioning capabilities, and a distinct competitive advantage."
Damages Explorer delivers the first-of-its-kind ability to search, discover, and compare individual damages awarded. Attorneys can analyze instances of damages awarded by a particular judge, in a certain court, and of a certain type—for example, attorneys' fees in a specific district, or infringement damages awarded by a particular judge. Attorneys can use the app to instantly model different strategic approaches, using information that previously would have taken weeks to compile at an extremely high cost. Lex Machina has the only complete record of damages awards in patent, copyright, trademark, securities, and antitrust cases since 2009.
Parties Comparator allows lawyers to compare parties by different criteria, such as litigation volume, performance, and outcomes. For each party being compared, the application shows damages, remedies, findings won or lost, and case timing milestones. This app is invaluable for companies seeking to refine their peer benchmarking and for law firms seeking to better understand clients, prove and improve legal strategies, and assess prospects.
Built with feedback from customers, the new Damages Explorer and Parties Comparator apps were developed with optimal ease-of-use in mind. They join the five other existing apps in Lex Machina's arsenal of Legal Analytics apps (Early Case Assessor, Motion Kickstarter, Patent Portfolio Evaluator, Courts and Judges Comparator and Law Firms Comparator).
