ATLANTA, Feb. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) is celebrating a huge milestone this week as they reach over 100 Support Groups nationwide! This accomplishment speaks volumes for the organization because LBDA is extending it's reach and capacity to further help those in need of support and services.
LBDA's passion and commitment to spreading awareness has enabled them to grow their support group base exponentially. The objective of each group is to provide support efforts for caregivers and those with Lewy body dementias. These individuals can access tools, resources, and communicate with others who have similar situations.
"The LBD caregivers group helps members face the future, whatever it may bring" shares Paul Smith, a Support Group Facilitator based in Illinois.
The majority of LBDA's support groups are led by volunteers who are trained by the organization. Training ensures that facilitators are knowledgeable in the LBD disease process, and are able to provide a safe, welcoming environment for group members to feel comfortable sharing personal experiences and learn from one another.
"Providing support and compassion for all those affected by Lewy is core to our mission at LBDA . It has taken us a while to get to this point but we are very excited by all the opportunities that are around us as we continue to grow," Mike Koehler, CEO.
There is only more anticipated growth on the horizon as LBDA continues to spearhead the fight against LBD!
