Leviton Introduces New Slim SmartlockPro® GFCI Model

MELVILLE, N.Y., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Leviton Manufacturing has introduced its slim Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI), setting a new standard for size and ease of installation, all while maintaining the same safety features and performance quality available in previous versions of Leviton's SmartlockPro® GFCI models.

The new GFCI features a slimmer profile than traditional GFCI designs. The overall volume of Leviton's slim GFCI is as much as 25% less than traditional GFCIs. The slim design addresses one of the greatest challenges in GFCI installation – lack of room to maneuver and install the GFCI in the electrical box.

Leviton's slim SmartlockPro GFCI meets and exceeds Underwriter Laboratories (UL) and National Electrical Code® (NEC) requirements, including the NEC requirement for tamper resistance. It features Leviton's patented SmartlockPro technology, which prevents reset if the GFCI is not wired or functioning correctly. If a SmartlockPro GFCI is miswired during installation (line-load reversal), it cannot be reset, blocking delivery of power to its feed-through terminals and face. Once the GFCI is wired properly and the unit is reset, the GFCI provides power.

The new slim GFCI is part of Leviton's commitment to comply with agency standards and to provide customers with the broadest range of code-compliant devices for every application need. Slim SmartlockPro GFCIs will be available through Leviton's network of retail and electrical distribution locations beginning in October 2010.
