Leslie Chapman-Henderson Wins William Gray Award for Outstanding Service in Hurricane Preparedness and Resilience
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas, April 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the National Tropical Weather Conference awarded nonprofit Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH) President and CEO Leslie Chapman-Henderson the William Gray Award in honor of her twenty-year legacy of service to the cause of hurricane preparedness, safety, and resilience. Ms. Chapman-Henderson received the award on the opening day of the annual gathering of hurricane experts.
Chapman-Henderson is a nationally-respected advocate for building codes and beyond-code innovation and advances the cause of disaster resilience by creating innovative collaborations with public, private, and nonprofit organizations. Her experience and expertise span creative, technical, and public policy initiatives from delivery of the award-winning, 4-D "edu-tainment" experience, StormStruck: A Tale of Two Homes® at Epcot® to the award-winning National Hurricane Resilience Initiative - #HurricaneStrong. Since 1998, her leadership has grown the FLASH partnership as well as the disaster resilience movement overall.
