Leo Burnett Named To 2017 Working Mother "100 Best Companies"
Agency Cited for Leadership in Family Benefits and Paid Leave
CHICAGO, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Working Mother magazine today recognized Leo Burnett as one of the "2017 Working Mother 100 Best Companies" for its strong leadership in creating progressive programs for its workforce, in the areas of advancement for women, child care and paid parental leave. The "100 Best Companies" are featured in the October/November issue of Working Mother and on workingmother.com. This year's honor stands as the 12th time Leo Burnett has been included on this list.
"We're very proud to be included once more in Working Mother magazine's list of '100 Best Companies,'" said Leo Burnett North America Chief Talent Officer Renetta McCann. "It demonstrates our commitment to supporting and empowering the passions and goals of our people, and to continually finding ways to improve ourselves as an employer at present and for the future."
Leo Burnett's People & Culture department leads the agency's workplace programs and initiatives that ensure work flexibility, diversity, educational advancement and other progressive services for employees. To make sure a diverse range of employee needs are being met within the agency, the department is further supported by an array of employee resource groups including ParentKind, Egalite, the Women's Leadership Network, Burnetts Vets, MERG and more to act as advocates on behalf of all.
Beyond these groups, Leo Burnett also serves the needs of employees by ensuring work and career flexibility. Employees are able to apply for three different flexible-work arrangements, telecommuting, remote and part-time professional, and are considered on an individual basis. The agency also provides flexibility programs specific to parents and families of all kinds, such as the Adoption Assistance Program, Phase Back, babysitter network Burnetters Helping Burnetters, and Rethink, a robust e-learning-style support system that aids parents of children with special needs.
Leo Burnett also facilitates the continuing education of its employees. Internally, the agency offers a range of training and development programs that encourage employees to pursue personal and professional learning endeavors. For example, Leo Leaps is a unique opportunity for staff to design their own learning projects over a six-week session. Launched in 2016, the program is already on its sixth iteration.
In addition to this honor from Working Mother, Leo Burnett has been recognized as a "Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality" by the Human Rights Campaign, receiving perfect scores on its Corporate Equality Index in 2016 and 2017. The agency is also a three-time Chicago Tribune "Top Workplace."
Working Mother Editor-in-Chief Meredith Bodgas says, "This year's winning companies know the value of keeping their employee moms engaged and supported. They use schedule flexibility, paid parental leave and family benefits to ensure that parents can develop meaningful careers while leading satisfying home lives."
Subha Barry, senior vice president & managing director of Working Mother Media, says, "As our 32nd year of recognizing the best companies begins, we are happy to see that the next generation, coupled with technology, have shown us how employees can be efficient, productive, effective and impactful no matter where they work. The 2017 Working Mother 100 Best Companies' policies and programs have built loyalty among their employees that cannot be underestimated."
