Lemonade Day Boston To Make Largest Community Impact To Date
Boston Mayor Walsh, Babson College, and partners launch program for more than 4,000 local students during inaugural Youth Entrepreneurship Week, April 24 - May 2
WELLESLEY, Mass., April 2, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Babson College and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh have announced exciting new plans for Lemonade Day Boston 2015, now in its 5th consecutive year supporting children in the Greater Boston area. The growing initiative, championed by Babson to help empower youth through entrepreneurship, college-readiness, financial literacy, and life-skills programming, will see upwards of 4,000 local participants during a mix of new and traditional Lemonade Day Boston activities.
For the first time ever, the week leading up to the actual day of business will be named 'Youth Entrepreneurship Week', and will be buzzing with student entrepreneurial activity. It will commence with a lemonade stand build event hosted by the Carpenters' Union on April 24, followed by a carnival-themed kickoff at the Tobin Community Center in Boston, featuring fun, related sponsor activities on April 25.
The children's entrepreneurial efforts will then be put to the test as they launch lemonade stands across the city of Boston on May 2 - helping to raise funds for deserving charitable causes, while employing Entrepreneurial Thought and Action(r) in a hands-on, educational pursuit.
"Lemonade Day is about celebrating the creative and entrepreneurial nature of our City's young people," said Mayor Walsh, "I look forward to again seeing the different ways young people use this opportunity to shape their future successes."
Lemonade Day Boston compliments Babson's mission to educate leaders who can create great economic and social value everywhere.
