Lemnis Lighting Named a 2010 Global Cleantech 100 Company
Co-Founder Warner Philips to Accept Award 23 November at Guardian's Cleantech Summit
LONDON and BARNEVELD, Netherlands, Nov. 23, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Lemnis Lighting announced it has been named in the prestigious 2010 Global Cleantech 100, produced by the Cleantech Group. The list is produced as part of the Global Cleantech 100 program, run in collaboration with the Guardian News and Media. Warner Philips, Co-Founder of Lemnis Lighting will be on hand at the Guardian's Cleantech Summit in London on 23 November 2010 (http://www.guardian.co.uk/cleantechsummit) to receive the award.
The Global Cleantech 100 highlights the most promising private clean technology companies – companies deemed most likely to make the most significant market impact over the next 5-10 years in the eyes of the world's cleantech experts. The Cleantech Group draws on its own data and research, and combines it with the weighted qualitative judgments of both hundreds of cleantech industry insiders, and the viewpoints of a 60-strong, international expert panel.
This year, 4,616 nominations were received drawn from 50 countries. The end result was 100 companies from 14 countries.
"The Global Cleantech 100 list represents the most rigorous, serious attempt made yet to provide a scorecard of the progress that is being made by cleantech companies. This year's expert panel involved a greater level of corporate participation than last year's, and we also saw an increased presence of companies from China in the Top 100 list – both trends that we at VantagePoint see as critical signs of the times," commented Stephan Dolezalek, the CleanTech Group Leader at VantagePoint Point Venture Partners.
"We are honored to be recognized as a global lighting leader," said Warner Philips, Co-Founder of Lemnis lighting. "We feel that energy efficiency and lighting in particular have the most potential to create a mass change in our global energy shortage problem and we will continue to bring products to market that directly address this problem."
In previous years, Lemnis Lighting has been named a "Technology Pioneer" by the World Economic Forum (2009), received the Lighting Africa award by the World Bank in 2008 and was named to the list of Top 10 Consumer Products by Fast Company Magazine in 2010. Lemnis Lighting was also recently selected by the South African government as a partner in the campaign to offset the CO2 impact resulting from the FIFA World Cup.
