Lemko to Accelerate Small Wireless Carrier Deployments of Nationwide 3G and 4G LTE Mobile Broadband Service After U.S. Court of Appeals Upholds F.C.C.'s Data Roaming Rules
ITASCA, Ill., Dec. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lemko Corporation applauds the U.S. Court of Appeals decision to ensure that all carriers can provide competitive nationwide data services under commercially reasonable terms. Lemko will accelerate its efforts to equip small wireless carriers in their deployment of affordable 3G and 4G LTE mobile broadband services.
This decision made by the U.S. Court of Appeals enables a consistent level of service for consumers located in major cities and small towns across America. It also encourages carriers holding spectrum (PCS, AWS and 700 bands) to provide mobile broadband services to their hometown customers.
"Knowing that their customers will be able to roam onto larger networks, smaller carriers will now move forward confidently in building-out 3G and LTE services for their communities, resulting in the generation of new roaming revenue. Lemko looks forward to deploying its mobile broadband solutions that are designed to optimize the unique challenges found in rural America and provide the lowest cost per gigabit," said Michael Sisto, Vice-President of Sales, Lemko.
The unanimous 3-0 decision rendered several significant rulings, including assuring power by the Federal Communications Commission (F.C.C.) to retain oversight of the data services inter-relationships between the wireless carriers. As such, cellular companies must allow customers of competing wireless carriers to use their networks for the Internet and e-mail when outside their home area at commercially reasonable rates. The F.C.C. has responsibility for controlling the voice-service roaming by customers of other carriers and this decision adds data services for users of smartphones, tablets and other wireless devices.
Lemko's technology enables carriers migrating to 3G or LTE functionality to enhance their business model by allowing consumers access to nationwide services for their smart phones and mobile data devices. For carriers seeking an upgrade to 3G or 4G, Lemko's Distributed Mobile Broadband Network (DiMoWiNe™) can be deployed on a stand-alone / greenfield basis or easily integrated with an existing 2G network. Lemko's 3G solution is fully upgradable to 4G LTE and offers optional deployments over satellite backhaul.
