RESTON, Va., Aug. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a FORTUNE® 500 science and technology leader, has been selected by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to support its Office of Software Engineering (OSE) and the Disability Case Processing System (DCPS). These two task orders were awarded under its new IDIQ Information Technology Support Services Contract (ITSSC) with SSA. The two task order awards have a combined potential value of $639 million, with a base period through the end of September, 2018 and four one-year options following to support SSA through 2022.
The OSE focuses on developing and providing software systems and services the business community requires to provide first-class service to the American public. Under the OSE task order, Leidos will support lifecycle activities for software improvement and web/interface design including design alternatives, user-centered design, development, integration, implementation, and deployment for waterfall, hybrid and agile methodologies.
The DCPS mission is streamlining and simplifying the disability claims process. Through this contract, Leidos will provide the expertise, technical knowledge, IT support personnel, and other related resources necessary for the SSA's DCPS program to continue its Agile-based development, and to simplify and modernize the Operations and Maintenance support necessary to improve the overall program process.
"With this contract, Leidos is continuing its support of the Social Security Administration's modernization efforts by improving software capabilities and helping provide efficient and thorough review of disability claims," said Senior Vice President Doreen Cohen, Leidos Civil Health. "Our work in support of the Social Security Administration allows us to bring forward the best technologies, processes and people to position the agency for the future."
This award continues the company's 29-year history of delivering solutions for the SSA's mission to provide financial protection for Americans. Previously, Leidos supported the SSA under its earlier ITSSC contract, a similar program that provides strategic and tactical planning and project management service to the SSA. The ITSSC software engineers provide new development support on a variety of platforms using a number of software languages.
