RESTON, Va., June 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a global science and technology company, announced today that Jerald S. Howe, Jr. will join the company as Executive Vice President and General Counsel.
Howe brings more than 30 years of leadership experience at global organizations in the aerospace, defense, and intelligence industries. Most recently, he served as Partner at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP (Fried Frank), where he advised and represented clients in government contracts litigation, investigations and bid protests, as well as mergers & acquisitions (M&A) and private equity transactions in the aerospace & defense industry. Prior to Fried Frank, Howe served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at TASC, where he oversaw the company's legal affairs, corporate development and M&A, ethics and compliance programs, government relations and security. Previously, he was owner and principal of consulting firm InSequitur LLC, Executive Vice President of the Olive Group, and Senior Vice President & General Counsel of Veridian Corporation. Howe began his career as an associate and partner at Steptoe & Johnson LLP and served as Judicial Clerk to Judge George E. MacKinnon of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Howe attended Princeton, Oxford and Harvard Law School.

Effective July 15, Vincent A. Maffeo will retire as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Leidos. Maffeo was instrumental in providing guidance and legal expertise through the company's evolution, most notably the separation of then-Science Applications International Corporation and the recent merger with Lockheed Martin's Information Systems & Global Solutions business in 2016. He will continue to support the company as a consultant.
