-New Bone Chilling Building Sets, Interactive Web and Mobile Fun, and Free, Downloadable Building Instructions Let LEGO® Fans Build the 'Boo' At Home-
NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- LEGO Systems, Inc. conjured excitement for the Halloween season by building a 10-foot tall vampire, set against the backdrop of Jackson Square and St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans this past weekend. Local residents and visitors of all ages helped LEGO® Master Builders to race against the clock to build Lord Vampyre – the lead villain of the new LEGO Monster Fighters construction toy collection – back from the undead before the sun rose during the company's first ever all-night building event. LEGO fans of all ages spent the night entertained by a costume contest, collaborative building activities and spirited performances by the New Orleans Saintsations.
"Legend has it that vampires only come out sundown to sunrise, so we want to thank the people of New Orleans for helping us to complete our most ambitious projects yet – our first-ever all-night building event," said Michael McNally, brand relations director, LEGO Systems. "We are excited to add the memory of Lord Vampyre's creation to the haunted history of New Orleans while kicking off the Halloween season with our new LEGO Monster Fighters sets while offering ideas for bringing the creative and spooky spirit to family's playrooms all year long."
LEGO fans can relive the excitement of the unique event by visiting www.youtube.com/LEGO to view a time-lapse video of Lord Vampyre being built to life under a full moon. Short videos, product information, an adventure game and five mini training games can be found at LEGO.com/monsterfighters, while LEGO Monsters Fighters Race, a free mobile game optimized for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch can be downloaded in the App Store on iTunes. To keep spooky creativity brewing all the way through All Hallow's Eve and beyond, families can visit www.BuildTogether.com for free, downloadable step-by-step building instructions for a vampire and a monster inspired by the Monster Fighters line and developed by LEGO Master Builders using a basic LEGO brick collection.
New LEGO Monster Fighters take builders' imaginations to a bone-chilling world where classic monsters attempt to blot out the sun forever. Through a collection of nine sets, builders help the team of Monster Fighters to overtake the mummy, werewolf, swamp creature, vampire, ghosts and mad professor.
The larger-than-life Lord Vampyre model will be reassembled at LEGOLAND® California to add to the park's month-long Halloween celebration that culminates with the annual Brick-or-Treat event.
Newsrooms can access b-roll or model time lapse of the build at www.TheNewsmarket.com.
