PHILADELPHIA, March 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Legal-Bay LLC, The Lawsuit Settlement Funding Company which operates lawsuitssettlementfunding.com, reported today that a report has indicated that a group of 124 cops in Chicago has cost the city $34 million in misconduct settlements since 2009.
Out of a police force of approximately 12,000, the 124 Chicago officers are identified in "nearly a third" of all the misconduct lawsuits that have been settled since 2009. According to The Chicago Tribune, one of the officers alone had seven settled lawsuits against him.
Most of the settlements that were made were for incidents that involved false arrests, racial slurs, or "injuring arrestees during traffic stops."
Public awareness has been growing due to incidents that have come to light in recent months. Due to the vicious nature of these crimes, Legal-Bay stands ready to assist those who have been faced with police brutality or wrongful imprisonment, as these cases are unfortunately far too common.
