Lee Tran & Liang LLP Files Suit For Ousted Co-Founder of Yik Yak
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Lee Tran & Liang LLP (LTL) announced today that it filed a lawsuit against popular social mobile application company Yik Yak, Inc., and its CEO Tyler Steven Droll and COO Brooks Buffington. The "Yik Yak" application allows people to post anonymously to other users within a 1.5 mile radius, and has become one of the fastest-growing and most popular applications in history. LTL represents Douglas J. Warstler, who co-founded Yik Yak with Droll and Buffington at Furman University in South Carolina, where the three of them were fraternity brothers and close friends.
The lawsuit asserts causes of action for breach of express and implied partnership/joint venture agreement, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference with fiduciary duty, and wrongful dissolution of partnership. Mr. Warstler seeks 1/3 ownership interest in Yik Yak, and compensatory and punitive damages. The lawsuit was filed in Atlanta, in the State Court of Fulton County, Georgia (Warstler v. Yik Yak, Inc. et al., Case No. 14EV002570G).
"We look forward to prosecuting this case to recover Mr. Warstler's rightful ownership interest in the Yik Yak partnership," stated lead plaintiff's counsel K. Luan Tran of LTL. The firm will be assisted in this lawsuit by co-counsel Peters & Monyak, LLP based in Atlanta.
