DENVER, April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Limited-income Coloradans struggling to pay home energy bills can apply to Energy Outreach Colorado for energy bill payment assistance, even after the federally-funded Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) stops accepting applications April 30 until next November.
Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC) is a statewide nonprofit that distributes energy assistance funds year-round through 125 assistance organizations to help families, seniors and individuals with special needs. It works closely with LEAP and other organizations to help Coloradans afford home energy by paying a portion of their overdue energy bills.
"Ongoing uncertainty in federal funding leaves more Coloradans at risk of having to go without home energy, or go without other necessities to pay their home energy bill," said Skip Arnold, Energy Outreach Colorado's executive director. "We were established in 1989 to raise funds to fill the growing gap between the energy assistance needs of our communities and federal resources."
Since 1989, Energy Outreach has raised more than $220 million from individuals and organizations for its energy affordability programs. These include energy bill payment assistance, emergency home heating repair, and energy efficiency upgrades for affordable housing communities and nonprofit facilities.
To apply for assistance, or to make a tax-deductible donation, please go to EnergyOutreach.org or call toll free 1-866-HEAT-HELP (1-866-432-8435).
