League of Cities Applauds Historic Immigration Vote in Senate

WASHINGTON, June 27, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NLC President Marie Lopez Rogers, mayor, Avondale, AZ issued the following statement in response to today's Senate vote on S. 744 – the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act:

"The National League of Cities (NLC) applauds today's Senate vote to pass historic immigration overhaul legislation. While this bill is not perfect, it goes a long way towards increasing the economic competitiveness of our nation and providing a common sense approach to national immigration reform.
