Leading Online Tarp Retailer Reminds Citizens That Haiti Still Needs Tarps and Aid
Over half a year after the earthquake, Haiti still finds itself needing tarps and aid, says Tarps Plus.
PALMDALE, Calif., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading online tarp retailer, Tarps Plus, continues to support the ravaged country of Haiti by sending thousands of tarps to the nation each month. But the need is still there, even over half a year since the earthquake has hit Haiti. "Just when you think that things are getting better in Haiti, we hear news that, once again, the country is bracing itself. This time, instead of simply trying to recover from another earthquake, Haiti is preparing for what is predicted to be a volatile hurricane season," said Angelina Urquart, General Manager of Tarps Plus (http://www.tarpsplus.com).
Since the earthquake that leveled Port Au Prince, donations have come in from around the world to provide poly tarps, shelter and support for Haitians without a home. These tarps, new and used, have been a life-saving support to those whose homes were destroyed in the quake. Distributed by aid organizations within days of the quake, canvas tarps and poly tarps have provided shelter from the torrential rains, and a place to stay out of the muck-filled roads and streets.
"Since the disaster, Tarps Plus has continued to support Haiti by sending pallets of donated tarps each month, but the response for more is always overwhelming," said Urquart. In addition to providing a shelter overhead, the plastic and canvas tarps are being used to create a tent city for those who band together in the tiny areas left unaffected by the quakes. More than a one and a half million people are currently living under make shift tarps and in tents following the quakes that devastated Port au Prince.

Since then Tarps Plus has offered high quality discount tarps to wholesalers and the general public at wholesale prices.
