On Friday, September 23, from 8:30am-5:00pm, Children's Institute, Inc. (CII) will present the 6th Annual Conference on Trauma-Informed Care, at the Westin Los Angeles Airport Hotel, located at 5400 W. Century Blvd. Key issues at this year's conference will include the impact of trauma on children, families and communities, as well as best practices to reduce the effects of secondary traumatic stress on the professionals who service this vulnerable population. Conference supporters include the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN), the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Institute of Violence, Abuse and Trauma, and Family Violence & Sexual Assault Institute.
This year's conference will begin with a special dialogue featuring a group of nationally-recognized professionals whose life work is focused on mitigating trauma and its impact. They will share diverse perspectives on the challenges of balancing service to others while utilizing wellness practices to sustain themselves. Actor, playwright and community activist Daniel Beaty will perform during the luncheon plenary and present an afternoon workshop.
