Simplifya's accountability and management system includes a new SOP feature that will help cannabis companies apply for business licenses and comply with state and local regulations
LOS ANGELES, March 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Simplifya, a developer of the cannabis industry's leading regulatory compliance software, has begun to roll out services for California's new regulated marijuana industry.
Simplifya's compliance tool distills complex state and local regulations into a simple series of yes-or-no questions to generate management and audit reports, identify areas of noncompliance, and hold employees accountable for remediation. It includes audit content for rules developed by California's Bureau of Cannabis Control, Department of Public Health, and Department of Food and Agriculture.
"California cannabis companies have a lot on their plates right now," said Simplifya CEO and co-founder Marion Mariathasan. "Our compliance tool makes all of these new rules and regulations a little easier to swallow. In addition to saving time and money, Simplifya provides business owners with peace of mind by keeping their operations current with ever-changing regulations and streamlining the overlap between jurisdictions and license types."
The platform also includes a new feature that assists cannabis companies in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), which are required to apply for a state business license. Less than 1 percent of known cannabis growers in California have been licensed by the state, according to a report released last week by the California Growers Association, which cited regulatory barriers as a major obstacle to licensure.
"Well-developed standard operating procedures are not only critical to obtaining a license, but to keeping that license," said Nik Patel of Mammoth Distribution, one of the largest cannabis vape distributors in California. "Simplifya's SOPs are like a roadmap to maintaining regulatory compliance."
Simplifya developed a strong reputation in Colorado, where it has been helping cannabis companies since 2016, and it is already receiving a warm welcome across California. Its initial clients in the state include Los Angeles retailer Buds and Roses and vape distributor Mammoth Distribution; Oakland-based product manufacturers Guild Extracts, Herban Industries, and Jetty Extracts; Oakland testing facility Brite Labs; Santa Ana retailer People's OC; and American Research Farms, a cultivation facility in Desert Hot Springs.
"Maintaining regulatory compliance is critical to our survival as business and as an industry," said Bud and Roses President Aaron Justis. "We are faced with a constantly changing labyrinth of state and local rules, which can be difficult and expensive to follow. We welcome Simplifya's assistance in navigating California's complex cannabis regulatory system."
Earlier this week, Simplifya announced it closed a $3 million Series B funding round, including a lead investment of $1 million from Merida Capital Partners.
Simplifya is the nation's leading cannabis industry compliance tool, empowering small and large businesses to proactively manage compliance tasks across all facilities and license types. For more information, visit https://www.simplifya.com.
