Leading Authors Share Insights and Strategies for Improving Student Engagement
Cengage Learning Launches Podcast Series Designed to Enhance Learning Outcomes
STAMFORD, Conn., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a recent Cengage Learning/Eduventures survey, "Instructors and Students: Technology Use, Engagement and Learning Outcomes," 87 percent of instructors see a strong correlation between improved engagement levels and leaning outcomes. As part of its ongoing efforts to help instructors and administrators enhance student engagement and, therefore, improve learning outcomes, Cengage Learning, a leading global provider of innovative teaching, learning and research solutions, has created a new podcast series entitled Engaging Today's Classroom.
Available via CengageBrain.com, the company's retail site, the series features renowned instructors and authors such as Greg Mankiw, Beverly Amer and Richard Aufmann. Through interviews and lively conversation, leading instructors across multiple disciplines explore issues such as the recent financial crisis and how best to incorporate current events in the classroom, the shift away from the traditional lecture model to more timely feedback and interaction with students, and how technology is changing the way students and instructors receive and share information.
"Perhaps now more than any other time in history, we are seeing a dramatic shift in the ways in which students receive and process information," said William Rieders, Executive Vice President, New Media for Cengage Learning. "Our goal is to help instructors and administrators continually adapt to the changing education landscape and leverage new tools and technologies to grab and keep the interest of their students. This podcast series, featuring some of the brightest minds in teaching, is just one of the many ways in which we are working to help better equip instructors to meet these challenges."
As part of the company's ongoing efforts to improve student engagement and learning outcomes, Cengage Learning also offers a suite of digital solutions and services called CengageCourse, which provides homework, grading and course management tools. Additionally, CourseCare provides training for instructors to help them find the right digital solution and provide flexible training options to prepare them to use technology in their courses – from the first day through the final exam.
