Leading Analyst Firm Names Tasktop Technologies 'Cool Vendor' in Application Development Category
Vendors selected are cited for being innovative, impactful and intriguing
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Tasktop Technologies (http://www.tasktop.com), creators of Eclipse Mylyn and the leading provider of task management solutions for application lifecycle management (ALM), today announced that it has been named a "Cool Vendor" in Gartner's "Cool Vendors in the Application Development, 2010" report published April 21, 2010 by industry analyst Thomas Murphy.
"We believe Tasktop's inclusion in Gartner's Cool Vendor report emphasizes the growing need for a task management solution that integrates heterogeneous ALM stacks, whether open source based, best-of-breed, or Agile-specific," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "It's great to see Gartner recognize Tasktop's products, open source community, and broad ecosystem of leading Agile and ALM vendors that are working with Tasktop to bring developer productivity to the next level through task-focused collaboration."
Tasktop invented the task-focused interface and created the Mylyn and Tasktop Pro task management tools to help developers double their productivity by making it effortless to organize work around tasks and automatically presenting the most relevant source code and project management information associated with each task. In addition, Tasktop has collaborated with the leading application management tool vendors to develop APIs that allow Tasktop Pro to serve as an integration hub for accessing and updating ALM systems. To date, there are more than 45 public integrations for Tasktop Pro and over a million users of the open source Mylyn tool.
Most recently, Tasktop announced the completion of several new integrations, including VersionOne and ThoughtWorks Studios' Adaptive ALM solution. The company also continues to expand support for the IBM Rational suite, including ClearQuest, ClearCase and Rational Team Concert, as well as ALM solutions from vendors such as Atlassian, CollabNet and Rally. In addition, the company was recognized at last month's EclipseCon 2010, where it was named the winner of the Eclipse Community Awards for Best RCP Application.
