Leadership Remains In Place For Key Advisory Board Following Measure M's Passage
Joint Powers Authority Provides Advice to Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority
MONROVIA, Calif., Nov. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Metro Gold Line Phase II Joint Powers Authority (JPA) board yesterday voted unanimously to maintain the officers on their board. Claremont Mayor and Foothill Gold Line Board Vice Chairman Sam Pedroza, Glendora Mayor and San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments President Gene Murabito, and La Verne City Council woman Robin Carder will continue in their positions as Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary/Treasurer (respectively) for the next year.
"With passage of Measure M on this week's ballot, the Construction Authority is getting ready to build the next six stations of the Gold Line light rail system," commented Pedroza. "Over the next few years, the JPA will be providing important advice to the Construction Authority on the next segment and I look forward to making sure that their input is fully integrated into the planning and construction activities."
The Joint Powers Authority is an advisory board established during the planning for Phase 1 of the Gold Line project from Union Station to Pasadena. The JPA is comprised of elected representatives from each member city along the Foothill Gold Line route and its role is to provide advice and guidance regarding the planning, funding, design and construction of the line.
"It is an honor to serve as chair of the JPA board for another year," added Pedroza. "Completing the Gold Line is a personal priority for me, and as I listen to my fellow board members from other corridor cities, they provide important perspectives that I can take to the Construction Authority board of directors."
Today, 13 cities from South Pasadena to Ontario have executed a "Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement" with the Construction Authority and participate as members of the JPA. The JPA meets regularly to discuss and make recommendations to the Construction Authority Board of Directors. These meetings are open to the public and administered per the Brown Act. Information about the JPA membership and meetings can be found on the About Us/Board of Directors page at www.foothillgoldline.org.
