BOSTON, Feb. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Postgres Vision 2017, the preeminent event for thought leadership, collaboration, and networking with the best and brightest companies defining the future of enterprise Postgres and open source data management, is coming to Boston.
An international conference for technology and industry visionaries to explore the future of enterprise Postgres, open source, entrepreneurship, and innovation, Postgres Vision 2017 takes place June 26-28, 2017 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, located on the left bank of the picturesque Charles River.
Postgres Vision 2017 will feature major figures in technology and government, thought leaders from across the open source ecosystem, and leading developers from the PostgreSQL Community. The agenda will include keynote sessions, informational panels, and presentations delivered across four tracks: business; open source community; DevOps; and technical workshops. During Postgres Vision, attendees also will have the opportunity to attend training and certification sessions for various skills levels.
"Open source has played a critical role in the data revolution, with innovative new solutions that impact organizational revenue, operational efficiencies, and performance in the market. "Most enterprises were not born digital. Traditional companies are aggressively rebuilding their technology infrastructures to serve customers better and to compete with a new set of digitally driven competitors. Postgres has catapulted into the center of that transformation as the new standard open source database for traditional and cloud architectures. Postgres Vision gives attendees the opportunity to see firsthand what is happening with Postgres and open source, and provides a premier opportunity to learn from thought leaders and network with peers," said Ed Boyajian, President and CEO, EnterpriseDB.
The open source data management ecosystem is evolving at the pace of digital business. Rapid innovation cycles demand supporting technologies that are cost effective, rapidly deployable in public and hybrid cloud environments, and easily adaptable to changing workload requirements. Postgres and surrounding ecosystem technologies are at the heart of this transformation. Consider:
- Open source database technologies are growing at six times the rate of traditional DBMS options
- Growth in cloud infrastructure and platform-as-a-service offerings are accelerating adoption of Postgres at unprecedented levels
- Polyglot data infrastructure requirements are driving the need for more open and interoperable technology ecosystems rather than the monolithic, closed technology stacks of the past
The success of Postgres Vision 2016 demonstrated the vast potential for new opportunities in open source data management. Leaders in business, IT management, and database design from around the world converged in San Francisco to explore how Postgres has transformed the digital infrastructure. Alibaba, Amazon, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Google, IBM, Infor, MasterCard, the Philippine Stock Exchange, Prudential Corporation Asia, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and USTRANSCOM were among the organizations to share successes and best practices with Postgres and innovative open source strategies to initiate new data-derived objectives.
Postgres Vision 2017 will be even bigger and better this year. The event will be held at the Royal Sonesta Boston. Located on the picturesque "left bank" of the Charles River on the Boston-Cambridge border, the hotel and conference center was newly renovated to meet today's high standards of style and distinction. The co-location of the conference with a preferred hotel will provide participants with greater conveniences during Postgres Vision 2017. The smaller, more intimate venue will enhance networking, as well as maximize booth foot-traffic and sponsor-attendee ratios and interactions, while major attractions like the VIP reception at historic Fenway Park will attract senior decision makers from all over the world.
Boston also affords participants unrivaled social, cultural, and historical opportunities, and June is a beautiful time of year to explore the city. The Royal Sonesta Boston is located on the water just 100 yards from Boston's estimable Museum of Science and mere blocks from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) campus. The hotel also provides a free shuttle service to Harvard Square and Harvard University. But there's so much more:
- Fenway Park, home of baseball's Boston Red Sox, where Postgres Vision 2017 will feature a VIP event
- The Museum of Fine Art, which will host a Matisse exhibit in June
- The four Harvard Museums of Science & Culture, which offer permanent galleries, special changing exhibitions, and public programs
- The Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile red-brick walking trail that leads to 16 nationally significant historic sites, including the Old North Church, where church Sexton Robert Newman held high the two famous lanterns that signaled to Paul Revere that the British were coming by sea, not by land
- The Boston Botanical Garden, the first public botanical garden in America
In addition, Postgres Vision 2017 has opened a call for papers. The call for papers seeks individual presentations and panel discussions for the open source community and DevOps tracks. Practitioners are encouraged to submit proposals on such Postgres and related topics as successful enterprise deployments; data integration projects; cloud projects; best practices; development efforts with open source; and favorite features or capabilities. The deadline to submit is February 24. Submissions should be sent via email to [email protected].
The early bird registration price of $195 ends on March 17, 2017. For more information and to register click here.
