LEAD Announces Board of Directors
Non-Profit Helps Veterans, Entrepreneurs and Government Officials
NEW YORK, Aug. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The pre-eminent organization for the training of professionals in career transition has announced its Board of Directors.
LEAD was established in early 2017 to meet a pressing need—training veterans returning from active duty and aspiring entrepreneurs and other professionals to optimize their earning potential and career opportunities. Running against the tide of the "sharing economy", LEAD makes clear the continued importance of people willing to take risks and start high-growth, job-creating companies.
"LEAD was started out of my surprise that more programs of this sort didn't exist already," said Lourdes Martin-Rosa, Chairperson. "We've seen for more than a decade that hundreds of thousands of veterans are returning to civilian life with nothing more than one week of preparation. LEAD equips these patriots with tangible skills to become job creators, including tactics to help them benefit from veteran certifications to win and retain lucrative government contracts."
Those named to the Board of Directors today are: Lourdes Martin-Rosa, Orlando Espinosa, John Hale III, Ed Marsh, Cesar Nader, Tonya Saunders, Mark Schroeder, John Shoraka, and Denise Rodriquez Lopez.
LEAD programs for veterans, for example, are highly differentiated because they engage active military up to two years before they enter civilian life. During this time, veterans learn how to optimize their performance in job interviews, find career opportunities across skillsets and industries, identify the career track that works best for them and add functionalities to round out individual strengths.
"It takes six to fourteen weeks, depending on the service, to train a civilian for military life," said Cesar Nader, Retired, Unites States Marine, Executive Director – Military Veterans Transition Playbook Program. "In contrast, the current transition process out of the military takes only one week. LEAD is a one-of-a-kind resource for veterans."
Join LEAD at the Military Veterans Transition Playbook event, which will be held Thursday, September 21 from 8am – 6pm at the Hilton Norfolk-The Main, Virginia. The event is free for all active and retired military personnel.
