Laying the Foundation, Inc. Announces David Saba as Chief Executive Officer
DALLAS, April 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of the Laying the Foundation, Inc. (LTF) has unanimously elected David W. Saba as Chief Executive Officer.
The O'Donnell Foundation founded LTF in 2003 to raise the bar for math, science and English education for American students. It is a rapidly growing national teacher training organization for teachers of English, math, and science in grades 6 through 12. The program has provided training for thousands of teachers in Texas as well as in ten other states. Its goal is to be a model program that can be scaled up nationally. LTF is highly regarded among classroom teachers, strengthening both their content knowledge and pedagogical skills.
"Dave is a forward thinker on education and brings a wide range of experience to LTF," said Peter O'Donnell, Jr., founder of LTF. "He is focused on ensuring that students and teachers are equipped with the skills necessary to succeed in the 21st century classroom. We have every confidence that he will be an outstanding leader of this organization."
Mr. Saba assumes his new post April 4. He comes to LTF from Best Associates where he served as Vice President of Business Development Programs. Previously, he was CEO of the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence in Washington, DC. He previously served as Regional Director of Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions. Prior to that post, Mr. Saba served as Vice President of Operations at Rehab Solutions, Operations/Engineering Manager at Bausch & Lomb, and started his career as Industrial Engineer at Michelin Tire Corp. He served in the Navy for seven years after attending the U.S. Naval Academy and received his Masters in Engineering Management from the University of South Florida.
"It is an incredibly exciting time to join such a great organization," said Dave. "As an engineer, I understand the importance of helping students and teachers master the math and science content necessary to compete in today's global economy. LTF has trained more than 31,000 teachers over the last eight years and is poised for even greater success in the future."
"We are thrilled to have Dave join LTF," said Dick Agnich, Chairman of LTF. "His extensive background in education and engineering will benefit the organization in many ways. Under Dave's leadership, LTF will continue to deliver high quality teacher training and focus on high standards in the classroom."
