Layered Tech Among First to Receive PCI DSS 3.0 Certification

KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Layered Tech, a leading global provider of secure and compliant hosting services, has become one of the first companies to achieve Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) 3.0 certification. PCI DSS is the industry standard for compliance and security for personal payment card data.

PCI DSS 3.0 is the third update to the data compliance guidelines, and PCI DSS 2.0-compliant vendors and businesses were given until Jan. 1, 2015 to adjust to the new standards. However, Layered Tech is once again leading the industry in its early adoption of PCI DSS 3.0.

PCI DSS outlines 12 core security areas, and the 3.0 guidelines offer increased clarity of responsibility for merchants, payment processors and service providers like Layered Tech. The updated standard focuses on reducing risk to payment card data and improving consistency of reporting across the industry.

Though vendors have until January 2015 to implement core changes, and June 1, 2015 to implement additional new practices, Veatch said it was vital to adopt the new standards early.
