LAX Tops Silvercar's List: Drive an Audi A4 starting November 4
World's second-largest car rental market set for serious upgrade
AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Silvercar, the app-based car rental service, announced today that Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will be the next location to get the company's reimagined airport car rental experience. LAX makes the list as Silvercar's sixth location added in the nine months since it launched, alongside current operations at airports in Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Francisco.
"It's time for car rental that doesn't suck at LAX. Time for travelers to skip the lines, avoid the counters, Heisman the upsells and get a great car every time," said Silvercar CEO Luke Schneider. Unlike other car rental companies, Silvercar rents a single make and model—the 2013 Audi A4 (in silver, of course).
Silvercar customers manage their entire car rental using a smartphone app—from reservation to return—for a seamless experience. Upon landing at LAX, travelers summon a curbside valet with the tap of a button to take them to Silvercar's off-airport location less than a mile away. Customers then unlock their own silver Audi A4 simply by scanning a QR code on the vehicle's windshield.
Each Silvercar is equipped with Google Earth GPS navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, in-car Wi-Fi and a toll tag, all at no additional charge. A simple fuel plan streamlines the return process by charging customers the local market rate for the precise amount of fuel they've used, plus a five-dollar service fee.
Silvercar rates at LAX will be $89 per weekday and $59 per day on weekends. Advance reservations are being accepted for Los Angeles-bound travelers (service beginning Nov. 4, 2013) via the Silvercar app for iOS or Android.
