Lawsuit Filed Against Cardinal Coach, Bus Driver on Behalf of Elderly Woman Who Died in Texas Bus Crash
Branson trial team files second negligence lawsuit after fatal Irving bus crash
DALLAS, April 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A Texas state district court lawsuit has been filed on behalf of an 83-year-old Tarrant County woman who died from injuries she sustained in the April 11 crash of a Cardinal Coach charter bus in Irving, Texas.
The complaint filed Friday, April 19, 2013, on behalf of Alice Wilkinson Stanley is the second lawsuit filed by the trial team at Dallas' The Law Offices of Frank L. Branson. According to the lawsuit, Mansfield-based Cardinal Coach Line Inc. and driver Loyd Earl Rieve were negligent in the maintenance, supervision and operation of the bus.
Ms. Stanley was a passenger on the Cardinal Coach charter on an April 11 day trip to the Choctaw Casino in Durant, Okla. Witnesses reported hearing a loud pop before the driver lost control of the bus and struck a plastic barrier on the right-hand shoulder. The bus then veered across the northbound lanes of State Highway 161 in Irving, flipped on its side and struck the center median.
Passengers were thrown about inside the bus, and at least two died at the scene and 41 were injured. Prior to her death, Ms. Stanley's arm was amputated, and she also suffered multiple fractured vertebrae, broken ribs, and a crushed sternum.
The trial lawyers at The Law Offices of Frank L. Branson have extensive experience representing individuals injured in bus and truck wrecks. Such cases often require thorough independent investigation, expert engineering analysis and advanced accident reconstruction technology.
"It's important that a thorough, independent investigation starts now before important evidence is lost or destroyed," Mr. Branson says. "Ms. Stanley and the families of other passengers who were hurt and killed deserve to know how and why this happened."
The lawsuit, Alice Wilkinson Stanley v. Cardinal Coach Line, Inc.; and Loyd Earl Rieve, was filed in the 193rd State Judicial District Court in Dallas County.
