ATLANTA, April 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs LLP announced today that nationally recognized employment and civil rights lawyer Lawrence Ashe has joined the firm as a full time Senior Counsel. Ashe has more than 45 years' experience litigating all types of employment disputes. "We are exceptionally pleased to have a lawyer of Lawrence's stature and reputation join Parker, Hudson," said managing partner Wayne Hillis. "We look forward to working with Lawrence to build a stronger employment law practice as a complement to the firm's thriving business litigation practice," Hillis added.
Ashe is an active litigator with a caseload comprised of race, sex, disability and age discrimination cases, employment testing cases, employment-related class actions, and all manner of other employment-related disputes. He is the only employment lawyer in Georgia recognized as a "Star" practitioner in the area of Labor and Employment by Chambers and Partners USA. He is a Fellow in both the American College of Trial Lawyers and the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He has served as chair of the EEO Law Committee of the Defense Research Institute, founding director of the successor American Employment Law Council, and management chair of the ABA Labor and Employment Law Section's EEO Committee.
Ashe has been a pioneer in advancing the status of female and minority lawyers in Georgia law firms and is active in the community, including serving on the Boards of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the Piedmont Park Conservancy, and the National Council for Research on Women. He has received career achievement awards from the Gate City Bar Association and the Urban League of Greater Atlanta.
"I am excited to be continuing my practice with Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs," Ashe said. "I have known and practiced previously with a number of the firm's partners, and I have always had the highest regard for the quality of the firm's lawyers and its practices. I look forward to working with my new colleagues to enhance and grow the employment law practice at the firm."
Ashe joins the firm from Ashe Rafuse & Hill LLP, the firm he founded in 2003 upon leaving Paul Hastings LLP, where he founded that firm's Atlanta office and practiced for nearly 23 years.
