NEW YORK, Feb. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- A new ranking of the law firms with the biggest intellectual property practice groups by Law360, the newswire for business lawyers, shows that IP boutiques are continuing to lose ground to full-service firms.
Three of the five practices that topped the Law360 IP 100 belong to the largest firms in the world, reflecting the emphasis major firms have placed on making robust IP groups part of their platform.
"Several years ago, we would have expected to see all IP boutiques at the top of this list. A lot has changed since then," Law360 managing editor Cat Fredenburgh said. "Our survey shows that while the boutiques that have weathered these stormy economic times are going strong, they're facing some stiff competition from full-service firms that are aggressively growing their IP ranks."
The IP 100 is part of Law360's practice area survey covering bankruptcy, competition, employment, energy, environmental, government contracts, insurance, intellectual property, international trade, media and entertainment, mergers and acquisitions, privacy and consumer protection, product liability, project finance, real estate, securities, and white collar
The ranking is accompanied by an article on the three biggest powerhouses of IP law.
