TEMPE, Ariz., Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University is pleased to welcome one of the country's foremost constitutional experts, Harvard Law School professor and author Laurence Tribe.
In a rare live Arizona appearance by Tribe, he will be presenting, "Uncertain Justice – The Roberts Court and the Constitution."
The event is open to the community from 1:30-4:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, 1100 S. McAllister Ave., Tempe. Legal professionals needing CLE credit can register by going to cle.asucollegeoflaw.com. Tribe is considered to be among the nation's most influential constitutional legal experts. He wrote the treatise, "American Constitutional Law" — cited more often than any other legal text — and has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court 36 times.
Professor Laurence Tribe has also taught two generations of America's most noteworthy constitutional lawyers. Some went on to become judges and justices, one to become Chief Justice, and one President of the United States.
Tribe currently serves as a member of the President Barack Obama's Commission on White House Fellowships, and was named the first senior counselor for access to justice by Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder.
During the College of Law event, Tribe will share his inside look at how the Roberts Court is rewriting critical aspects of constitutional law and redrawing the ground rules of American government, as well as why today's Supreme Court has the unprecedented power to redefine the future of the nation.
Under the leadership of Chief Justice John Roberts, the increasingly influential Supreme Court has decided many momentous issues — relating to privacy, free speech, voting rights, marriage equality, presidential power and political contributions — that have profoundly affected all Americans.
Tribe's presentation will be followed by a panel discussion featuring prominent local legal scholars, including ASU College of Law Professor Paul Bender, and attorneys Paul Eckstein and Clint Bolick.
For more details and to register visit cle.asucollegeoflaw.com. Each attendee will receive a complimentary copy of Professor Tribe and Joshua Matz's hardcover book, "Uncertain Justice." Additional discounted copies may be purchased at the program.
