Law Firm Reaches $400,000 Settlement for Clients Injured Outside of DC Nightclub
Injury Attorneys at Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. have secured a $400,000 settlement on behalf of victims who were injured after being stabbed and shot outside of a Washington, DC nightclub.
WASHINGTON, Nov. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Partner Joseph Cammarata and Associate Matthew Tievsky of the Washington, D.C. law firm Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. have recovered $400,000 on behalf of clients who were injured as a result of a fight that occurred outside of a nightclub in Washington, DC. The firm filed the lawsuit in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia (2012 CA 008614 B, 2012 CA 004536 B).
According to the lawsuit, the firm's clients had been attending a holiday event at the nightclub. At one point during the night, patrons of the club became rowdy and the event was stopped. The nightclub forced all patrons to leave the facility. Outside, fighting continued and the firm's clients were stabbed and / or shot. One client was shot to death.
Partner Cammarata and Attorney Tievsky filed the lawsuit against the nightclub, its owners and managers, the security company, and the promoters of the event. In response, the nightclub claimed it had no responsibility to protect patrons from the criminal acts of unknown assailants. After extensive fact finding, Partner Cammarata and Attorney Tievsky alleged that the nightclub should have been aware that the patrons could be harmed and should have taken steps to protect them. With the assistance of the Judge presiding over the case, the firm was successful in reaching a positive settlement for its clients.
The $400,000 settlement reached by Partner Cammarata and Tievsky will provide crucial support to the victims affected by this tragedy. In the past, Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. has handled a number of premises liability cases involving third-party injuries, inadequate security, and failure to maintain order. The firm fights to hold negligent property owners accountable for failing to reasonably protect visitors and guests.
Partner Joseph Cammarata and Associate Attorney Matthew Tievsky are part of the legal team of Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C., a full-service personal injury firm that represents clients throughout the DC metro area from offices in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC.
