Law Enforcement Alliance of America: Court Ruled Child Sex Offenses Were NOT, as Tim Cullen Claimed, 'Victimless'
WASHINGTON, May 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tim Cullen says he never claimed his client's crimes were 'victimless'.
We're glad Tim Cullen would like a more thorough discussion of these issues and their impact on public safety in Arkansas and America.
Tim Cullen says he never called his clients crimes 'victimless' and LEAA disagrees. But in this debate, you don't have to take our word alone, you can read what the Federal Court had to say when it rejected Tim Cullen's appeal to reduce his client's prison sentence.
"Defendant argues that his crimes were victimless, his family (including two daughters) will suffer if he is not allowed to support them, and his age (fifty-six) and his state of health militate against a long sentence. The claim that his crimes were victimless is specious at best. Although his crimes did not involve an individually identifiable victim, the inability to identify a child shown in pornographic images does not make the possession of child pornography a victimless crime."
LEAA shares the opinion of the court, that Tim Cullen's argument was "specious at best" and that "the inability to identify a child shown in pornographic images does not make the possession of child pornography a victimless crime."
That's why – as part of our more than twenty years of education efforts -- we've presented the full court decision on our website for all to see. We encourage the public to examine all the facts and make their own decision. "LEAA unflinchingly believes that child sex abuse is NOT a victimless crime and that our children are best protected when the courts punish pedophiles with the most severe punishment available!" confirmed LEAA's Jim Fotis.
The child sex offender that Tim Cullen worked so hard to get released from prison – and returned home earlier to a house with children in it – did not deserve to have his prison sentence shortened.
LEAA receives no taxpayer funding and protects the privacy of its members and supporters (including those who are crime victims or law enforcement).
