Laurie Sicaeros Named Chief Operating Officer for MemorialCare Medical Foundation and Vice President of Physician Integration
ORANGE and LOS ANGELES Counties, Calif., June 6, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Laurie Sicaeros—highly regarded leader in health system transformation—has been named Chief Operating Officer for MemorialCare Medical Foundation, the physician group division of MemorialCare Health System and Vice President of Physician Integration. Over 350 primary care physicians and 2,200 specialists serving hundreds of thousands of patients are part of the Medical Foundation's two divisions—MemorialCare Medical Group and Greater Newport Physicians (GNP) Independent Practice Association (IPA). In addition to medical offices, the Foundation oversees MemorialCare's ambulatory surgery, medical imaging, urgent care and kidney dialysis centers throughout Orange and Los Angeles counties.
In her new role, Sicaeros is responsible for Medical Foundation operations and strategy. She will continue to serve as MemorialCare Health System Vice President of Physician Integration, drawing upon two decades experience in physician relations, mergers, acquisitions, business development, informatics and electronic health records. She also works closely with the 2,000-member MemorialCare Physician Society, a unique, physician-led organization dedicated to the pursuit of evidence-based, best clinical practices.
"Laurie is held in high regard with physicians throughout the Southland and we are thrilled to have her join the Foundation as our COO," says Mark Schafer, M.D., CEO, MemorialCare Medical Foundation. "Her vast experience and consistent accomplishments, continuous contributions to the Medical Foundation and deep understanding of the local health care landscape serves us well."
Sicaeros was instrumental in establishing MemorialCare Medical Foundation in 2010, one of the nation's fastest growing physician organizations. The Medical Foundation has expanded MemorialCare's ancillary sites with 9 surgery centers, 10 imaging centers, 13 kidney dialysis locations and 12 urgent care centers with many more physician practices and outpatient centers scheduled for the future. She played a key role in the Medical Foundation's affiliation with UC Irvine Health and its primary care growth in central and north Orange County.
She helped lead in establishing MemorialCare Health System's physician and community electronic medical record networks that link physicians and outpatient centers to MemorialCare's hospitals in Orange and Los Angeles counties—thus providing seamless continuity of care for millions of patients served by MemorialCare and its 2,800 affiliated physicians.
"It is a great honor to be named COO of the Medical Foundation and expand my work with the exceptional physicians associated with MemorialCare," says Sicaeros. "MemorialCare and the Medical Foundation have been a big part of my life and career and it's exciting to be able to help further advance our vision of continuing excellence."
Prior to joining MemorialCare, Sicaeros was a management consultant to multidisciplinary physician practices in Orange County. She holds a bachelor's degree from California State University Long Beach State and a master's degree in health care administration from Chapman University.
