Laurence Klinger, Chief Creative Officer of Lapiz, Named Creative Director of the Year
CHICAGO, Oct. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Laurence Klinger, chief creative officer of Lapiz, a Hispanic advertising agency operating within the Leo Burnett Group, was named HispanicAd.com's Creative Director of the Year last night at the annual AHAA advertising conference in Miami, Florida.
"It is a true honor to be voted best by your peers," Klinger said. "This award really belongs to all the people of Lapiz - it wouldn't be possible without their immense talent and dedication."
In 1988, Klinger founded the Hispanic division of Leo Burnett, now known as Lapiz, with only one account, Procter & Gamble, and two people. Prior to Lapiz, he served as a creative director for Leo Burnett Sao Paulo. In 1986, he was transferred to Chicago and worked as a creative director on major accounts such as United Airlines, Heinz, P&G, Kraft, Kellogg's and Sony before starting Lapiz. Klinger has won numerous awards at prestigious industry shows including seven lions at Cannes, Clios and Effies. With nearly two decades of creative direction under Klinger, Lapiz was recently named the number one Hispanic advertising agency in the U.S. by Adictivo Magazine.
Previously produced by advertising trade publication Advertising Age, the HispanicAd.com's creative advertising awards at the annual AHAA conference were sponsored this year by creative community, Circulo Creativo. Creative Director of the Year is a peer-appointed award designated by the readers of HispanicAd.com.
"It says a lot to be voted the best by peers of the advertising, media and PR industries nationwide," said Dolores Kunda, president and chief executive officer of Lapiz. "Laurence's creative direction and experience has positioned Lapiz as a leader in Hispanic advertising."
