DENVER, Sept. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) presents a special exhibition featuring distinguished NYC-based artist Lauren Clay. Field of the Knower will take place in the Philip J. Steele Gallery on RMCAD's campus. The exhibition will run from October 19, 2017 – November 16. Clay's work will be unveiled in conjunction with the opening of Selina Román's Please Disturb exhibition in the Philip J. Steele's East Gallery. The exhibitions will be the last of the Gallery's yearlong visiting artist gallery exhibition series.
About the Exhibition
New York artist Lauren Clay presents a site-specific installation of monumental wall murals and biomorphic sculptures for the Philip J. Steele Gallery. Oscillating between rational geometry and illusionary psychedelic space, the wall installation creates an environment for the sculptures—biomorphic plaster forms which reference the human body and ancient Indian yogic texts.
About the Artist
Lauren Clay's sculptures and installations morph spatial relationship and transform contrasting artifacts into ideological investigations. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including recent features at Paradise City, Seoul, South Korea; Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn, NY; Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, NJ; Savannah College of Art and Design; Larissa Goldston Gallery, New York, NY. In 2016 her artist book, Subtle Body, was published by Small Editions, New York. Clay has participated in numerous artist residencies and lecture series including Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colo.; Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro TN; Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, GA; Clark College, Vancouver, WA; and Abrons Art Center, New York, NY. Clay holds an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University (2007) and a BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design (2004).
