NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ismael Cala and Pvblic Foundations, organizers of the successful Latino Impact Summit, will hold the event annually at the United Nations to continue the discussion about Latin America's future.
"We're excited with the quality of the panels on education, the role of women, philanthropy, emigration and other issues that are very relevant to the region. We'd like to thank all participants for their contributions. We are convinced that we can work together—non-governmental organizations, public figures, international agencies and governments— on behalf of the region, with a variety of ideas and proposals," explained Ismael Cala.
For his part, Sergio Fernández de Córdova, President of the Pvblic Foundation, said: "This summit is setting the standard. Without any borders at all, we Latinos are one voice, and what better place than the headquarters of the United Nations to let our voice be heard by the rest of the world. The social entrepreneurial activities of our people depend on each and every one of us, and this summit is the initiative that will bring them to fruition, using as a basis the goals of sustainable development."
Governmental representatives took part in the 2016 Latino Impact Summit, such as Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, Vice President of the Dominican Republic, who addressed the role of women in politics. In conversation with Ismael Cala, Cedeño de Fernández said that the region was facing a pivotal moment and was pleased that machismo is retreating from current political processes.
The following acts of recognition were made at the event: the Award for Excellence of Social Development, to Dr. Luis Ubiñas; the Award for the Empowerment of the Latin Woman, to Dra. Angélica Fuentes; and the Award for the New Generation of Social Entrepreneurship, to Carlos Slim Domit.
Also present for the occasion in New York were ambassadors, business people, and young entrepreneurs and communicators, in a fraternal and constructive environment.
The 2016 Latino Impact Summit was one of the first events at the United Nations to be held completely in Spanish, with the goal of discussing the region's real issues, as well as challenges and opportunities relating to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The summit was led by social entrepreneurs and businessmen, Ismael Cala and Sergio Fernández de Córdova, who preside over the Fundación Ismael Cala and the PVBLIC Foundation, respectively. Univisión was the network partner for the event.
