Latin Trade Announces Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes as BRAVO Business Awards' 2015 Innovative Leader of the Year

MIAMI, July 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Latin Trade Group, the leading provider of information and business services to companies operating in Latin America, announced today that the president of Paraguay, Horacio Cartes Jara, will be presented with the Innovative Leader of the Year Award at the 21st annual BRAVO Business Awards, on October 29 in Miami.
With this award, the editorial judges wish to acknowledge Paraguay's progress towards implementing the reforms approved in 2013, which include new income tax rulings, a fiscal responsibility law, a revision of the sovereign bond law, and a Public-Private Partnership structure designed to generate infrastructure investment. These reforms will contribute to develop and consolidate a balanced economic growth path for the country.
The Innovative Leader of the Year Award recognizes actions that take Latin American countries to a higher stage of development using new strategies or creative approaches to promote growth. Latin Trade's judges were particularly impressed by the fact that government-led and private sector initiatives are improving economic diversification by promoting growth of light manufacturing industries and raising the value-added content of agricultural exports. It is a sound and timely strategy to best utilize Paraguay's competitive advantages, which include low labor and energy costs, and a more favorable tax environment. The judges also praised the improvements in governance and institutional strengthening measures advanced by the Cartes administration, which have also been noticed by investors, credit rating agencies and the business community alike.
"Paraguay's economic growth will likely outperform that of the majority of Latin American and Caribbean countries in the next five years. That is not a matter of chance but of creative and orderly economic management, a task that president Cartes has devoted his time and energy to achieve. We are thrilled to honor his efforts," Rosemary Winters, CEO of the Latin Trade Group said. "Innovation, the theme of the award, and of the 2015 Latin Trade Symposium that we will hold in Miami prior to the BRAVO Business Awards ceremony, is one of the key components of success in the region. It is perhaps, along with inclusion, the most powerful element in the making of a better future for millions of Latin Americans," she added.
