Analyst Update: Strategic Alliance, Financial Results, Public Offering, and Corporate Statements
The U.S. markets ended lower on Monday as the concern over Greece's precarious financial condition and China's slowing growth weighed on the investor sentiment. The energy index saw a sharp sell off on the back of weak oil prices. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 85.94 points or 0.47% to close the day at 18,105.17. The NASDAQ and S&P 500 ended the day at 4,993.57 and 2,105.33, respectively, down by 0.2% and 0.51%, respectively, for the day. The European markets too ended the day in the red on Greece debt fears. The FTSE 100 was down 0.24%, DAX lost 0.31%, and CAC 40 plunged 1.23%. However, Asian markets (excluding Australia), traded higher as investors cheered China's latest cut in interest rates to boost its slowing economy.
Gevo, Inc. on May 7, 2015 announced that it has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Alaska Airlines to purchase Gevo's renewable jet fuel and fly the first-ever commercial flight on alcohol-to-jet fuel (ATJ). The first demonstration flight is expected to take place sometime in mid to late 2015, once Gevo receives ASTM International certification for its fuel.
Ceres, Inc. (Ceres) on April 9, 2015 announced financial results for second quarter FY 2015 (three months ended February 28, 2015). Total revenues for Q2 FY 2015 were $0.3 million as compared to $0.5 million in the same period a year ago, primarily due to the completion of work scheduled under its various grant programs.
Thompson Creek Metals Company Inc on May 6, 2015 announced financial results for first quarter 2015. Consolidated revenues for Q1 2015 were $123.0 million compared to $161.0 million in the first quarter of 2014, primarily led by declining molybdenum sales, which fell from $102.9 million to $42.8 million during the same period.
Summit Midstream, on May 7, 2015 announced the pricing of its underwritten public offering of 6,500,000 common units representing limited partner interests in SMLP at a public offering price of $30.75 per common unit. The underwriters have been granted a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 975,000 common units, less the underwriting discount.
Westlake Chemical Partners, on May 5, 2015, issued a statement on proposed regulations relating to its qualifying income activities. The Internal Revenue Service and U.S. Department of Treasury issued proposed regulations under section 7704(d)(1)(E) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, relating to qualifying income from the processing, refining and transportation of minerals or natural resources, which allows a business to be treated as a partnership for U.S. federal tax purposes.
