Analyst Update: Quarterly Financial and Operational Results
U.S. stocks advanced sharply on Friday, after stronger employment data for April suggested the US economy is gaining traction again. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.49%, to close at 18,191.11, the S&P 500 gained 1.35%, to 2,116.10, and the NASDAQ Composite finished the session at 5,003.55, up 1.17%. European stocks rallied on Friday, lifted by the UK election results, which showed the Conservative Party unexpectedly sweeping into power again. Germany's DAX 30 rose 2.65%, France's CAC 40 advanced 2.48%, and the London's FTSE 100 closed 2.32% higher on Friday. Meanwhile, Asian markets surged on Friday after losing ground in the last few days. The Shanghai Composite, Japan's Nikkei, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng all posted gains on Friday.
On May 6, 2015, PowerSecure International, Inc. reported its first quarter 2015 financial results. The Company's revenue for Q1 2015 was up by 50.6% YoY and stood at a first quarter record of $79.5 million. The Company's Distributed Generation, Solar Energy, Utility Infrastructure and Energy Efficiency segments all showed positive growth in revenue compared to the previous year quarter.
On April 13, 2015, Layne Christensen Company reported its financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal 2015 (period ended January 31, 2015). The Company's total revenues rose 14.1% YoY to $193.9 million, as compared to $169.9 million in Q4 FY 2014.
On May 6, 2015, The Wendy's Company reported its financial results for the first quarter of 2015. The Company reported that its same-restaurant sales increased 2.6% at its North America Company-operated restaurants in Q1 2015, while same-restaurant sales increased 3.4% at its North America franchise-operated restaurants.
On May 6, 2015, The Children's Place, Inc. announced its expected financial results for the thirteen weeks ended May 2, 2015. The Company's comparable retail sales increased 0.7% during the quarter, representing its fourth consecutive quarter of positive comparable retail sales.
On May 5, 2015, Millennial Media, Inc. reported its financial results for the first quarter 2015. The Company's gross margin for the quarter improved to 44.7% from 41.2% reported in Q1 2014. The Company reported net revenues of $63.2 million for Q1 2015 compared to $72.6 million in Q1 2014. Millennial posted a net loss of $19.8 million for the first quarter of 2015 as against a net loss of $12.9 million in Q1 2014.
