ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Sept. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Honduras welcomed Johnny Rockets when the iconic restaurant chain opened its first location in the country at City Mall Tegucigalpa - a popular shopping, dining and entertainment destination for residents and area visitors that opened last year. This restaurant is Johnny Rockets' second in Central America, following its opening of a restaurant at Albrook Mall in Panama City in August 2010.

Johnny Rockets offers a menu of all-American favorites that include made-to-order Hamburgers, hand-spun Shakes, American Fries served with a ketchup smiley face, and classic Sandwiches. The dynamic lifestyle brand offers friendly service, upbeat music, twirled straws and dancing servers, contributing to the chain's signature atmosphere of relaxed, casual fun.
To celebrate, the restaurant hosted a grand opening event on August 30, for nearly 300 locals. Toasting with flutes of vanilla milkshakes, the attendees enjoyed entertainment including a vintage car show and dancing servers – a cornerstone of the Johnny Rockets experience. Guests also delighted in samples of the brands' world renowned Hamburgers and American Fries.
"For the past 27 years, people have loved Johnny Rockets around the world," said Johnny Rockets franchise owner Maria Eugenia Handal Canahuati, owner of Desarrollos Gastronomicos Internacionales Corporation. "I am thrilled to be able to bring this wonderful concept to Honduras, so that people here can see for themselves what makes Johnny Rockets such a delicious and entertaining dining experience."
The largest shopping center in the nation's capital, City Mall Tegucigalpa is located next to Toncontin International Airport and features more than 300 shops and restaurants; eight Cinemark theatres; parking for 1,500 cars; unique design elements; and air conditioning throughout the mall. Based on the mall's strategic location, impressive array of outlets and popularity with local residents and area visitors, the mall was a natural site for Johnny Rockets.
"Central America represents an extremely viable area for growth as Johnny Rockets continues its aggressive global expansion," added John Fuller, CEO of Johnny Rockets. "Honduras is an important link in this chain, and Maria couldn't have found a better location than City Mall Tegucigalpa for our first restaurant in this beautiful country."
The 2,266-square-foot Johnny Rockets restaurant and 365-square-foot terrace seat 80 and 25 people, respectively. They are located on at Basement E-106 in one of the two mall entrances, and are visible from outside the mall.
